In the article Searching For Silence written by Alex Ross. Ross talks about John Cage and the way he composed ‘music.’ I found it interesting and what spoke to me was in the beginning where they wrote that it’s never really silent. It made me sit silently and if you focus there will always be noise. I also loved that John Cage branched out to be different. Sometimes we’re afraid to branch out and we don’t always take the first step but he did and it worked. He opened paths for people and created something new for the youth. At the time the things he did was not always favorable and people had things to say but he didn’t care and kept going. Cage loved the attention and the recognition he got which was probably what kept him going. Personally, I give Cage credit because so far working on the project, it is so hard not to create a beat out of noises. I give it to him because he didn’t care and dabbled with it all. I also think it’s admirable that he loved getting the attention, negative or not. Personally, if I were in his position I would’ve stopped doing what he did.
