Brainstorm Blog #1

For my zine project, I had come up with many ideas. I narrowed it down to two ideas I really loved. My first idea is walking with someone you love and suddenly the first snowfalls. There is a saying in South Korea where if you witness the first snow with someone you love and you confess then that love will last forever. There are other beliefs like if you lie during the snow then you can be forgiven, another one would be that if you make a wish during that first snow then your wish will come true. The other idea I have which is the one I’m leaning towards is the red string of fate. There is a saying in Chinese mythology, and other East Asian beliefs, that every person has an invisible red cord tied around their finger and it connects to someone else’s. It is believed that you are destined to them and they are your ‘true love.’ With this idea, I want to show that one person has a string on their finger and the string stretches throughout the world and connects to the other person. Below you can see my ideas and the direction I want my ideas to go.
